A Little About Mrs. Scrivner
Education: My name is Mrs. Aimee Thomas Scrivner. I graduated from Jacksonville State University in April 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6); Highly Qualified. In 2016, I completed a Master's in Differentiated Instruction with a concentration in ESOL Education at the University of Alabama Huntsville where I earned placement on the Graduate Dean's List and received the Department of Curriculum and Instruction's Outstanding M.Ed Teacher Education Award. I was awarded the 2018 Excellence in Early Childhood Education award from the University of Alabama and completed my Arts Integration Specialist Certification in June 2018. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy. I love to learn and hope to instill that same love of learning in my students.
Teaching Background: I began my career in 2007 teaching Kindergarten Literacy Intervention and then 3rd grade in the Albertville City School System until I found a job in Burley, Idaho. I decided to make the move in 2010 where I received Idaho certification to teach K-8th grade. I taught 1st grade at Mt. View Elementary until 2012. After moving to Huntsville, I taught K at AAA for 2 years before moving to 2nd grade. Having taught K, 1st, and 3rd grades, I know where our students are coming from when they enter at the beginning of the year, and where they need to be by the end of our year together.
Family: I met the love of my life while living in Idaho. We decided to move to Huntsville and were married on May 4, 2013. My husband is a clinical social worker and the executive director at a youth treatment facility. Our son, Elyas, was born in 2017 and our 2nd son, Myer, in 2019. We have two dogs: Reggie, an 8 year old Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix and Gizmo, a 4 year old Shih Tzu/Mini-Greyhound mix. We have found Huntsville to be both a beautiful and inspiring place to live.
AAA is a special place where all teaching is centered around creative and performing arts. The arts have always been a steering force in my classroom and life. I have been involved in choirs, dance/colorguard groups, drama teams, and have played the flute since the 6th grade. (I also love to play around with strings--mandolin and ukelele--but they're works in progress). I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach your child at such a wonderful school that incorporates life's most valuable skills into everyday learning!
